A quick Google search on Mesotherapy will give you various answers describing the treatment’s many therapeutic uses. Mesotherapy involves micro-injections of an individualized ‘cocktail’—whether that be comprised of medicine, antioxidants, vitamins, hyaluronic acid or a combination—into the skin. ‘Meso’ is Greek for middle, and the solution is intended to penetrate into the mesoderm, or middle layer of the skin (above the facia and muscles) so that it can diffuse and affect positive change just under the skin’s surface. While it can be used for many purposes (ie. address injury, hair growth, fat melting), in this article we’ll explore how we use it at Toronto’s Elements Spa cosmetically for anti-aging and facial rejuvenation. Let’s take a closer look!

At Elements Spa, we assess each patient’s skin type and concerns to create a combination solution comprised of pure hyaluronic acids, antioxidants, herbal extracts and vitamins. These work beneath the skin’s top layer to hydrate and rejuvenate from the inside out. Hyaluronic acid is a natural structural component found in our skin and connective tissue. It’s most commonly used to replace lost volume and lack of collagen while smoothing out wrinkles and revolumizing large areas. It works by attracting water that you have in your body, and retaining it in the specific area for increased hydration and stimulated collagen production.

What To Expect From Your Treatment

Dr. Adibfar will begin treatment by applying a numbing solution to the area to make the patient more comfortable and render the treatment virtually painless. After creating the patient’s individualized solution of active ingredients, Dr. Adibfar will begin by using a micro-syringe to inject into the skin using quick passes over the entire treatment area so that the solution is able to work to improve the quality of the skin. The ingredients will then diffuse into the mesoderm, where it will replenish and work eagerly to rehydrate and force the skin to produce more collagen.

Patients will see a marked improvement in their skin after just one session as their lines soften, their skin lifts and they look younger and more radiant. However, the most marked positive change will display itself after a few days, once the solution better acclimates and communicates with the skin’s tissues. The effectiveness and efficiency of this treatment works in a way that topical creams could never compare, as the active ingredients gain access to layers of the skin that lotions could not penetrate alone.

It is completely normal for there to be a little of blood from the punctures, as well as redness, slight bruising and swelling. Patients are typically advised to undergo multiple sessions for optimal results. This may include 3 treatments every 2 weeks for 2 to 3 months followed by appropriate after care and maintenance sessions. It’s also important to note that this treatment is safe and effective for all ages.

If you feel as though your skin looks dull and lacks vitality, then Mesotherapy may be just the treatment for you! This quick and effective treatment will leave you feeling and looking younger, brighter, rested and full of vitality.
