If you’ve been wondering what injectables are and how these anti-aging powerhouses can help you  look and feel your best then this blog is for you. While a diligent skincare regime and healthy  lifestyle can certainly help mitigate signs of aging, most men and women can use a little help  rejuvenating their skin, turning back the clock, and preventing further aging. Let’s take a closer look at the different types of injectables and how we use them at Toronto’s Elements Spa.

What Are Injectables?

Injectables are compounds placed into the skin with a fine needle and used aesthetically to combat  many different signs of aging. These signs of aging can include wrinkles, creases, and loss of  volume. Injectables can be used in many different areas of the face as well as other parts of the body  including the neck and hands. While almost all injectables are used for anti-aging, they all have  specific uses that are beneficial to certain areas of the face and body. Below are some of the most  popular injectables and their uses.

1. Botox

Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes the muscles at the injection site for smoother skin  and a reduction of lines and wrinkles on the surface. Botox addresses the most common lines on the  face including crow’s feet, frown lines, lines around the mouth, forehead lines and more. Your Botox  session can be completed in as little as 15 minutes and patients are able to return to their daily  commitments immediately.

2. Restylane

Restylane is a dermal filler composed of hyaluronic acid and it’s more typically used to fill lines,  wrinkles, and areas of the face lacking volume. We find great success using Restylane to define the  jaw and address sagging and laxity along the jawline.

3. Juvederm

Juvederm also a hyaluronic acid, has a gel-like consistency and is used for many different anti-aging  applications. It is long-lasting and is most popular for adding volume to the lips, filling in areas with  deep wrinkles and lines, and contouring facial features for more symmetry.

4. Radiesse

Radiesse also has a smooth gel-like consistency and corrects loss of volume while promoting  collagen in the underlying structures of the skin. We use Radiesse most often to fill in delicate areas  including the eyes, cheeks, and other hallow areas.

Injectables like Botox and dermal fillers have no recovery time and work immediately to combat  pesky signs of aging.
